Daily Life at Orwell House

Our aim is to provide an enhanced quality of life to each and every resident for the duration of their stay with us.

Activities

Many of our residents lead active social lives and a few still drive. We encourage our residents to take part in activities they will find enjoyable, both inside and outside of Orwell House.

Each person has their own key-worker who is, amongst other things, able to take them shopping or go shopping for them.

There is a pianist that plays in one of the lounges once a week. We offer arts and crafts, exercise classes, reminiscence classes and card evenings.

Religious Services

We offer a high level of pastoral care. We have a Church Service at Orwell House once a month.

Clergy from all denominations are welcome and encouraged to visit regularly. Visits to local churches or services can be arranged.

Visiting

Visitors are welcome at any time – there are no set visiting times.

Pets

We will consider all pets and their suitability must be discussed with the Home Manager first.

Additional Services

For the convenience of our residents, we can arrange in-house appointments with their own dentists, hairdressers, opticians, etc if they so wish.

Whenever possible we provide transport for residents that have outside dental, optician or hospital appointments.

Hairdresser appointments are available every week in our professionally equipped hairdressing salon.

Chiropodist appointments are available every 6 weeks.

Newspapers and magazines are available daily and the Suffolk Mobile library visits alternate Friday afternoons.
